Three hours with the Ritz-Carlton, and the market that flipped

Zack Petrocca · 2 min read

This week's system

Three hours with the Ritz-Carlton leadership team. Here is their playbook.

They took their whole culture apart in front of us: how they select instead of hire, what happens in a new employee’s first year, the meeting they run every single day, and the praise that quietly makes a team worse.

The Signal

Two things that change how you operate this week.

Sellers lost the market while nobody announced it

Months of supply hit 4.9 in August, the highest in over ten years, per the National Association of Realtors. HousingWire Data puts 42.1% of listings cutting price, against a normal 30 to 35%.

TakeRewrite the listing presentation. You are pricing into a five month cushion with half your competition already cut.

Google now writes the answer instead of quoting you

The “People also ask” box used to quote a real page. In the first week of September, 97% of those answers were AI-written, up from 12% fourteen months ago, across 19.2 million queries measured by AlsoAsked.

TakeOpen that box on “should I sell my house in [your town]”. Those four questions are what your clients actually type. Answer them on your own site, in your own words.

In focus

Where to actually start with AI in a service business.

Most teams bolt AI onto chaos and get faster chaos. Which is why the two things you should never automate are the two most people start with.

AI finds

Five tools doing real work for agents right now.

  1. Cloze tracks your sphere on its own and tells you who to contact next. Free plan.
  2. ListedKit reads the executed contract and builds the timeline, tasks, and emails. Priced per deal.
  3. Granola sits in your listing appointment and takes the notes, with no bot joining the call. Free plan.
  4. HeyGen record yourself once, then make market updates on camera without setting one up.
  5. Gemini Notebook upload the HOA packet or disclosures and ask it questions. Free, and formerly NotebookLM.

Prompt of the week

Get It Out of Your Head

Before you can write a process down, you have to get it out of your head. Paste everything you are carrying and this hands back what you are actually holding, the one real bottleneck, who should own what, and the first three systems to build.
