Most owners can tell you they are the bottleneck. Very few can tell you exactly where. This prompt finds out. It interviews you about the last two weeks, one question at a time, and writes down every moment a task needed you. Then it splits the list in two and drafts the handoffs.
It is the fast version of the month-off test: instead of logging a week of questions, you reconstruct the last two weeks in about fifteen minutes.
The prompt
Interview me one question at a time about the last two weeks in my business. Every time a task needed me (a question, an approval, a fix, a login), add it to a list. Then sort the list in two: decisions only I should make, and tasks a team member could do if it were written down. For every item in the second list, draft the one-paragraph instruction I'd hand them.
How to use it
- Open your calendar and your sent messages first. You will answer from what actually happened, not from what you think usually happens. The difference is the point.
- Answer the questions honestly and briefly. It asks one at a time, so let it lead. If it stops before you have covered a normal week (leads, clients, team, money, tools), tell it to keep going.
- Read the second list first. That is the relief. Most owners find it is longer than the first, and that almost everything on it is missing one paragraph, not a person.
- Send one instruction this week. Pick the item that came up most, edit the draft into your own words, and hand it to the person who should own it. Then do the next one next week.
Run it again in a month. The second list should be shorter. That is the metric.
If you want to know which part of the business is carrying the most of that list, the Origin Score is twenty-seven questions, about five minutes, and shows where your business is narrowest right now.
