Free · one page · 4 tools
Run the business on four tools, not twenty. The Origin Stack, free.
The four tools I would keep if I had to run the whole business on nothing else, what each one replaced, and the exact thing I ask it to do.
The tools open every day at Origin, chosen by what they took off the founder's plate.

Why this exists
Most tools move the work. They do not remove it.
Every new tool promises time back. Then it needs setting up, checking and babysitting, and the work just moves from doing the task to watching the tool do the task.
This is the short list that passed one test: each tool took a task off the one person who cannot be replaced. If a tool needs checking every single time, it is not a system yet. It is a subscription.
Who built this
Four tools, chosen by what they took off my plate.
I am Zack, a fractional COO. I build the operating systems behind founder-led service businesses, and I run them in a business I co-own. These are the four tools that are open every day, and the test that kept the list this short.
Zack Petrocca, Founder, Origin
What is on it
Every tool replaced a task, not a person.
For each one: what it replaced, why it stayed, and the exact thing I ask it to do.
-
Claude
Replaced the blank page, and most of my research.
What I ask it"Here is the mess. Turn it into an operating plan I can act on this week."
-
Granola
Replaced the notes I never wrote up.
What I ask it"What did I commit to on that call, and who owns it?"
-
Notion
Replaced the answers that lived in my head.
What I ask it"Write this once, so nobody has to ask me twice."
-
ManyChat
Replaced me answering the same DM all day.
What I ask it"Deliver the asset, tag the person, and tell me who asked."
One page. Two minutes to read. One tool to start with this week.

Who this is for
This is for you if
- You pay for more software than you use.
- You are still the one person every tool needs.
- You want to hand work to AI without adding another thing to check.
Skip it if
- You want a list of fifty apps.
- You enjoy trying every new tool that launches.
How fast it pays off
Useful in two minutes.
-
Minute one
It is in your inbox, or download it straight from the next page.
-
Minute two
Read what each tool replaced, not what it does. That is the whole reason it stayed.
-
This week
Set up the one that takes the most off your plate, and run it for a week before you add the next.
One page, US letter.
Before you download
Do I need all four?
No. Start with one. The point of the list is how short it is.
What if I already use different tools?
Keep them. The page is really about the test: every tool has to take a task off the one person who cannot be replaced. If yours do, you are set.
Is it really free?
Yes. It is free for your own business use. Please do not resell or repackage it.
